Koreans sure love their lists and ratings. From the National Treasures list to the various ratings of entertainers publishes every month. They’re not only top songs, but girls’ and boys’ groups (and individual members) brand reputation rankings, variety star brand reputation rankings, etc. However the list I would like to introduce you to today is less known.
In 2006 the Ministry of Transport introduced the “100 Beautiful Roads in Korea” (한국의 아름다운 길 100선) list. The whole list can be found, for example here http://www.youth.co.kr/road/road100.htm (the list only) or here http://www.srkr.or.kr/bbs/sub7_3/3572 (with the pictures).
While the winner (picturesque Changseon-Samcheonpo Bridge) is a bit far from Seoul, almost on the very South of the Korean Peninsula, some of the more accessible places are also on the list. One of them is the Deoksugung Palace Stonewall Walkway (one of my personal favorites!), which took second place. Some of the listings are quite obvious, for example, Cheonggyecheon Stream (15th). However, many are potential hidden treasures, so maybe the list will be useful for you guys when you are planning your trips for the next year!
